“My aim is to evoke the feelings of calm, humility, and intimacy that can be experienced in a moment of connection with our landscape.”
Christine Olson Gedye is a Northwest contemporary landscape painter based in Seattle, Washington. She creates luminous, atmospheric paintings in oil on panel using thin, transparent glazes. As an antidote to the complexity and hectic pace of modern life, she specializes in images that convey an air of simplicity, space and stillness.
Gedye was born and raised in Minnesota, and has lived in New York, London, San Francisco, and Sydney, Australia. She received her art training at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle and the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, Australia. Her work is in numerous private and public collections, and it is heavily featured in the best-selling technique book, Elements of Landscape Oil Painting by Suzanne Brooker (Watson-Guptill).
